Aoi Reo spent his childhood learning survival instincts from his father. Before coming to Japan, he travelled from country to country, continent to continent, often residing in unpopulated places (such as a jungle). As a result, he resembles a wild animal more than he resembles a human.

Reo has a strong affinity with animals; however, people are afraid of him because of his scary features. When he's nervous or scared, he tends to glare at the people around him and he emits a "don't touch me" aura. Reo doesn't have a lot of experience dealing with people; on the other hand, he can tell the difference between "good" and "bad" guys and his animal-like features (i.e. strong sense of smell) can be very useful. He does have a naive side and tends to act like a child due to the overprotection of his father and his guardian.

Reo is the grandson of a wealthy man. After his mother passed away, Reo met his grandfather for the first time and won over both his grandfather and his grandfather's secretary's (Toki-san) heart. When his grandfather passed away, he left a will stating that Reo would inherit his entire fortune, worth $120 million. In order to steal Reo's fortune, his distant relatives set out to ensure that Reo would not be able to inherit the fortune by the time he turned 18. In order to protect Reo, Reo's father and Toki-san hid him in unpopulated areas, where Reo was shut off from the rest of the world. This lifestyle resulted in his survival instinct that causes him to become a violent blood-thirsty animal when he sees blood and/or is endangered. Yet, his gentle side leads to his self-hate whenever he hurts another person during his state of franticness.
